Telefónica I+D (TID) is the innovation company of the Telefónica Group. Founded in 1988, it contributes to the Group’s competitiveness and modernity through technological innovation. To achieve this goal, the company applies new ideas, concepts and practices in addition to developing advanced products and services. TID staff has a long experience in new network architectures and is involved in internal initiatives and collaboration projects related to them.

The team also has a long experience in participating and contributing to standards organisations and open source initiatives. Within TID, the Research group was created in 2006 with the aim to carry research studies on mid to long-term related to several technological areas of interest to the Telefónica Group. The Research group follows an open research model in collaboration with universities and other research institutions, promoting the dissemination of their work both through publications and technology transfer, and is constituted of a multi-disciplinary team with a variety of skills that includes systems, machine learning, networking, signal processing, HCI, data mining, privacy and security.

Role in the project

TID will perform several contributions to the project. TID will contribute to the Confidential Networking Work Package, and in particular to the Requirements & Architecture for this WP, as well as Confidential Orchestration and Federated AI/ML. TID will also lead the Work Package 5 dedicated to use cases, and will lead the Task 5.3, namely Intelligent connected vehicle for mission-critical services, OTA updates, FL/ML and vehicle to infrastructure communications.

Finally, TID will also contribute to communication, dissemination, standardization and exploitation activities of the project.
